Dafudi Courtyard Mansion
Dafudi Courtyard Mansion
Dafudi Courtyard, the oldest Red-brick civil South Fujian-style building left on Kulangsu today, was built in 1796, the first year of the reign of Jiaqing in the Qing Dynasty. This house was the residence of Huang Xuzhai, who had three sons. The oldest one, Huang Kunshi, was an official who became the Vice President of the Treasury Department, hence the tablet inscribed with the mansion's name “Dafudi Courtyard” hanging above the gate.
